Beer Keg Guzzler In Fat Loss Shock Pleads Guilty!!

I’m guilty, yes…and maybe as charged…my belly fat loss regime has a chink in the armour…and yet even in my confession I know I still lost pounds off the midriff and love handles despite it.

Oh that little devil is on my shoulder egging me on..

But, friends, because I don’t want to deceive you into thinking that I am a holier-than-thou fat loss coach…I need to get this off my chest

I drank beer… and still lost belly fat

I know, it’s a shocker. I can hear the tight necks creak and squeal as a hundred fitness instructors are rudely jolted out of their routine. He did what???

Yep..I like to have a beer on occasion and it didn’t stop me losing pounds.

Eh? Well…I drank in total, over more than 90 days, about 5 beers a week (sometimes more) and usually on a Saturday. So what’s that? 60 pints..5 gallons!!! Surely that would fill a decent size keg! And you must at least carry some of that about in your gut.

So then..what’s this all about?

Well I hope that if you have read any of my blog posts (and maybe you should if you haven’t) I am usually half joking about some things and then I get serious and give you good advice.

Except here I am not. This is COMPLETELY serious.

I did lose belly fat, in fact 12 lbs, and managed to quench my Irish thirst (even though I don’t have a particularly large Celtic thirst anyway). You can drink beer and lose your gut at the same time….

That’s some hook, I know…

What I am about to tell you is that you can still drink alcohol, have a beer, a G’n'T, some of the black stuff..and lose fat. And that if you do this, you’ll actually be helping yourself to lose fat.

On the other hand if you completely go off alcohol, yes it will help you lose fat in the short term..but then based on experience I wonder what the eventual counter reaction to this will be? From what I have seen, it’s hard to stop drinking completely and then when you stop on comes the fat again. And especially if this is one of the key elements to your fat loss regime..as a lot of people point out you have to do. Why? Because the habit of drinking hasn’t been changed. Just avoided.

So before I get ahead of myself is there any truth in that you can still drink and lose fat or that it has benefits? Well if you read the Internet it’s a mixed bag. There’s reports saying that in general small, or moderate amounts of alcohol help keep certain diseases away, in fact very recently alcohol was reported to help with things like Alzheimer’s.
But there are also reports saying the opposite. And that’s just a small section of the pros and cons. You hear about drinkers being happier and that drinking wine helps you lose weight
…and there are websites written to tell you off for thinking just that.

But it’s not that which is important for what I’m telling you here, as my own body experiment showed.

I’ll level with you though: drinking beer does end up putting fat on your belly and other places.

The chemical reaction in your body and the way your system behaves does that.

But the key is that if you are already burning fat through higher intensity exercise and eating less and better…then that fat loss can be offset. And if you are drinking less than 6 pints a week (remember that the recommended amount for men is 7), and even if it is a ‘binge’ day, you do actually aid fat loss.

(There is a good weight loss tip of having a yo-yo or ‘binge’ day in your diet once a week where you pig out on stuff you like – junk food, beer and the what not – This has been linked to restoring the hormone leptin which is key for maintaining your metabolism and fat burning)

And here’s another thing before I go on:

You don’t really hear much about the fat gain from drinking too much natural orange juice…but yes, after all it is effectively liquid sugar..just natural sugar. Your body deals with it the same!
If you don’t believe me, go look up Jorge Cruz and read his stuff.

Anyway, what is the secret here?…It is HABIT BUILDING and MODERATION

If you go off alcohol it can be a bit of a system shock. And it may not last. Back comes the yo-yo-ing (not the self-regulated type). The counter reaction.
But if you lessen your intake or compensate like I described then it is easier. Ultimately to get those ripped abs you’ll have to come up with a compromise. It may involve giving up beer and having spirits or giving up entirely. But it will be an easier step and be more in keeping with your routine.

The method I propose for getting rid of those 2 inches of belly fat and giving you the sound basis of permanent fat loss is as ever: My 4 and 10 Rule for Belly Fat Loss – the 10 refers to reducing your diet by 10% and swapping out another 10% of junk.

So with beer, have a pint or 2 less when you go out…it’s that simple. Now if you are drinking every night…listen, you going to have to have a big sit down and think.
If not and you drink 1 or 2 nights a week, lose some pints that you normally would drink.

Do that for 30 days then see if you can swap a pint for a little spirit. Just try it. You may not need to. As long as you are doing at least 4 workouts per week (at least 2 high intensity), eating 4 times a day (as in spreading your food intake over the day) and general looking at your diet then you’ll STILL lose belly fat.

And just there I have given you a synopsis of my belly fat loss methodfor free!!

So enjoy your beer…you don’t have to give it up in one go to lose the belly fat…you just maybe need to have a quiet talk about your long-term relationship!!
